Sessions

What is your style?
The best way to get a feel for my style is to look through my galleries. Some people have described my work as a prettier version of real life. While I offer suggestions and direction on posing I typically shoot while you're interacting, playing, laughing, whispering and daydreaming.

Where do sessions take place?
I prefer to shoot outdoors in natural light whether it be a park, a beach, an alley, a parking garage or your backyard. We'll decide on the best location for you based on your style and purpose.
What is the session like?

I'll get to know you and your child and keep things light and fun. It is my goal to capture genuine expressions. You'll never hear me use the words, "say cheese" or "sit still". Talking and playing usually does the trick. I'll probably ask you to do things that sound silly, like hug as tightly as possible or hold your kid upside down. Just trust me and have fun.

What should I wear?
Your own comfort level should drive your wardrobe choice. Feel free to bring a couple different outfits so we can create different looks. Solid colors are best. Try to stay clear of busy patterns or logos that can appear distracting in pictures. Some of your portraits will be head to toe so choose socks, shoes, etc. that are portrait appropriate.

Should I bring anything to the session?
You are more than welcome to bring props that reflect your family or child's style. Things such as banners, large letters, toys, furniture, or frames can be incorporated into the session.
When will my pictures be ready?

Your portraits will be ready for viewing approximately 1-2 weeks after your session.

Can I see ALL the pictures you took at my session?
I typically shoot 150-200 images during one session and choose the best 25-50 images to share with you. As an artist and professional, I reserve the right to show only those images which best represent my clients and my standard of work.

What if it rains?
If it rains we will postpone. If it drizzles, the shoot will still be on.

What time of day will the photos take place?
The most beautiful and natural light can be found a few hours after sunrise and a few hours before sunset. During the summer months this might be from 8-9am or 4-6pm and in the winter 10-11am or 2-4 pm. Those of you who have younger children, who require naptimes, might schedule a session right after naptime for happier children!
